Lavelle Woodworking Studio was founded in 2014 by Miranda and Zachary Lavelle. We started our business after realizing we could not find furniture for our new home that met our standards of quality and style. Zach brings over fifteen years of experience designing, selecting material, and building one of a kind pieces. Miranda lends her eye for detail and sense of style to help finalize each piece, ensuring any small defect is corrected before it leaves the workshop. Our style is influence by mid-century modern design but we create furniture in any style to meet our clients' needs. We focus on using quality materials and building memories through their furniture, bringing life to each piece we create. Lavelle Woodworking Studio's mission is to provide custom, heirloom-quality furniture, built with passion and craftsmanship.

Our pieces can range from rustic to sleek, minimalist designs. We strive for perfection in every piece we create, ensuring that all details are carefully considered and executed to the highest standards.

We source our wood from ethical suppliers, who either harvest urban trees that are at the end of their life or need to be removed or who work with smaller logging companies, harvesting mature trees while letting younger ones continue to grow. We use durable wood species like Oak, Walnut, Curly Maple and Cherry that can withstand the test of time with proper care.

Our finishing processes includes sanding pieces to 220 to 400 grit and using multiple different hard wax brands and custom oil blends, that bring out the best characters of the wood and ensure long lasting protection that can easily be repaired, without having to completely remover the finish. We hand rub all surfaces to achieve a smooth low satin or high gloss finish. We shy away from using conversion lacquers, conversion varnish, and most spray finishes. While they may provide unparalleled durability and protection they build up a finish on the wood creating a plastic feeling, do not move with the wood as it expands and contracts creating cracks in the finish, and are extremely hard to spot repair and usually require full refinishing to repair deep scratches or dings. All hardware is selected for function, durability and aesthetic - often incorporating brass or stainless steel handles, hinges and pulls.
